For his work as associate editor on the 2021 IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, Bernhard Preim received an Honoray Mention.

Best Short Paper Award at VCBM 2021

For their work on “Shading Style Assessment for Vessel Wall and Lumen Visualization”, Kai Ostendorf , Domenico Mastrodicasa , Kathrin Bäumler , Marina Codari , Valery Turner, Martin Willemink , Dominik Fleischmann, Bernhard Preim , Gabriel Mistelbauer received the Best Short Paper Award at the VCBM 2021.

1st Place for the Dirk Bartz Price for Visual Computing in Medicine

For their work on visual exploration of cerebral blood flow, Benjamin Behrendt, Wito Engelke, Philipp Berg, Oliver Beuing, Ingrid Hotz, Bernhard Preim and Sylvia Saalfeld were awarded with the first place for the Dirk Bartz Price.

EG VCBM Meritorious Service Award

Prof. Bernhard Preim received the EG VCBM Meritorious Service Award for his numerous and longstanding contributions to Chair of the EG VCBM Steering Committee (2013-2019), and Build and Shape the EG VCBM Workshop over the Years.

2nd Place for worldwide touchless interaction contest

Patrick Saalfeld and Danny Schott from the VAR group teamed up for Ultraleap´s Beyond Touchscreens 3-week developer competition. They needed to develop an innovative public interface for a post-COVID-19 world using the Leap motion controller. The proof-of-concept shows an interactive prototype, which enables a contactless food configuration in restaurants by means of hand gestures.

Best Poster Award ISINA 2019

The Interdisciplinary Symposium for Women in the MINT Field (ISINA) took place at the TU Chemnitz on 25-26 March. The ISINA symposium is a platform for knowledge transfer and exchange on topics such as interdisciplinary research, success strategies as well as for passing on impulses for innovative forms of work. On two days, experts from science and business gave lectures on current topics from science and research. Embedded in the first day was the presentation of the nationwide ISINA “Best Poster Awards”. Here, posters were awarded that present the research subjects of bachelor’s and master’s theses as well as doctorates in a generally understandable way. Monique Meuschke applied for this prize with her doctoral thesis entitled “Visualization, Classification and Interactive Exploration of Risk Criteria for Cerebral Aneurysms”. Her submission was awarded with the 1st place.

2nd Price ElbeDome Award 2018

On May, 24th the ElbeDome (Europe’s largest 3D mixed reality laboratory) was reopened after modernization. For this event, applications demonstrating the capabilities of the ElbeDome could be submitted. The team of Benjamin Behrendt, Lisa Piotrowski, and Patrick Saalfeld (alphabetical order) developed the VR application “Inside Circulus arteriosus”. Here, the user is able to explore the Circle of Willis comprising its arteries, blood flow and surrounding skull. Their submission was awarded with the 2nd place.
